Job Summary

The ERP Technical Consultant – Finance & Operations is responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and supporting enterprise-level ERP solutions using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O / AX). The role involves close collaboration with functional consultants, business stakeholders, and technical teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance ERP solutions aligned with business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Development & Customization

Design, develop, and maintain custom solutions in D365 Finance & Operations using X++, extensions, and best practices

Customize standard modules while ensuring upgradability and minimal over-layering

Develop forms, reports, workflows, batch jobs, and business logic

Integrations & Data Management

Design and implement integrations using OData, REST APIs, SOAP, DMF, Data Entities, and AIF

Handle data migration, imports, exports, and reconciliations

Integrate D365 F&O with third-party systems such as CRM, WMS, payroll, banking, or legacy applications.

Reporting & Analytics

Develop and customize reports using SSRS, Electronic Reporting (ER), and Power BI

Optimize reporting performance and data accuracy

Performance, Security & Environment Management

Troubleshoot performance issues, batch processing, and system errors

Implement role-based security, duties, and privileges

Support environment management, deployments, and builds via Azure DevOps and Lifecycle Services (LCS)

Support & Maintenance

Provide L2/L3 support, root-cause analysis, and defect resolution

Support system upgrades, hotfixes, and Microsoft platform updates

Prepare technical documentation and conduct knowledge transfer sessions

Collaboration & Delivery

Work closely with functional consultants to translate business requirements into technical solutions

Participate in design reviews, code reviews, testing, and deployment activities

Follow Agile/Scrum development methodologies

Required Skills & Qualifications

Mandatory Skills

5+ years of hands-on experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations / AX

Strong expertise in X++ development and D365 extension framework

Experience with SSRS, DMF, Data Entities, and Electronic Reporting (ER)

Solid understanding of Azure DevOps, build & release pipelines, and LCS

Knowledge of ERP architecture, security framework, and performance tuning

Nice to Have

Experience with Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps)

Exposure to Azure integrations, Logic Apps, Service Bus, or Functions

Functional knowledge of Finance, Supply Chain, or Manufacturing modules

Microsoft Dynamics certifications
